'IN THE BOX' PRODUCTION PACKS Introducing 'In The Box' Production Packs! ​ We work on over 40 theatre productions most years, and so know that putting on a perfect theatre production takes a lot of prep work. We've now completed this prep work for a huge list of shows, and are happy to pass on everything to you for a very small fee, almost as though we're sitting in the tech box with you (hence the name)! We're often involved in every element of the production, and so have lots of content available! ​ Because of budgets, we can often only put one designer/technician on a show, so have developed a system to make any show (using backing tracks) operable by just one person! This includes the sound, lighting and projections if applicable - but does require a lot of programming before the show (which we've also already done and you can now access!) ​ Of course every production is different, so although everything we supply is based on the productions we've been involved in staging, most are easily adaptable, and will give you a great starting point to move forwards with your show and save you lots of time! We only add a production to this list once we've actually put on the show with a local theatre company, so you know that everything will line up perfectly to the licensed script and has been tested in person! As every show on this list is licensed from one of the rights holders, it's essential that you obtain a performing license from them to get access to the script and backing tracks (where appropriate). We cannot supply these items as they form part of the performance agreement for each specific production, and are typically rented from the rights holders as part of that process - and so we make it simple to slot tracks into QLab once you've got them, and provide clearly marked up cue lists so you can easily transfer cues to your script! ​ Depending on which production you're looking at, we might be able to provide any of the following (check individual links below for info on each specific show)! QLab programming (for songs, sound effects & house music), can also include lighting network triggers timed to tracks and projections/av Pre-programmed ETC Eos lighting files (adaptable to suit your rig / design), complete with cue lists and associated documents Character Plots Costume lists & plots Scene Breakdowns (for stage cues / set design etc) Mic lists & plots Props lists Paper prop templates​ Links to online rehearsal harmony guides (similar to Rehearscore) Access to props/costumes available to hire from our friends at Limelight Performers Other items also available on a show to show basis ​ ​ More information will be available soon, but you can have a look at some of the shows which we already have items available for below or are currently working on (with more constantly being added), and please get in touch if you'd like to know more or make an enquiry!

The Aleksic Christmas Lights Raising money for St. Elizabeth Hospice since 2013 Every year we organise a big Christmas Light show set to music on the front of our house, just off Norwich Road in Ipswich, Suffolk. ​ We raise money for St. Elizabeth Hospice, and are always so pleased with the support that we receive. You can donate - and see past donations collected since we first started the light show years ago - by following the link here or a bit lower on the page. We're always so grateful for the support and even won the prize for 'best fundraiser' for the Hospice in their Christmas Lights Trail in 2018 (and have beaten that total every year since!) ​ As always, this year the lights will be on between 4pm and 9pm every day in December, and Rudolph's big red nose will be glowing and ready to push, which will start the light show whenever you arrive! ​ We'll be releasing more footage from this year's brand new display soon, but you can have a look at some videos from last year below, and take a trip down memory lane with our past displays further down this page. ​ You can see the display at our house in Lister Road, Ipswich, IP1 5EQ - we're the one near the middle with loads of Christmas lights, you won't miss us! ABOUT US JLA Sound and light was formed by James Aleksic back in 2013, on his 16th birthday. The company has grown a lot since then, with us now working on over 40 theatrical productions a year! Highlights have included designing for shows at the National Theatre and Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as well as in almost every local venue! Find out more below! A bit more detail... James Aleksic Hi, my name is James Aleksic and I run JLA Sound and Light. I've been working in this industry from a very young age - starting off by doing the disco for my own 8th birthday party. As 'DJ Hamster' I became quite well known in the Ipswich area, doing children's birthday parties most weekends with my family. This continued all the way through school, where I also helped to organise and run lots of school discos, music concerts, shows, awards nights, assemblies and so on. I then started doing these more myself, and put on many charity events - ranging from fetes through to quiz nights, concerts and variety shows. I then went onto college where I completed a 2 year technical theatre course which was joint run by Suffolk New College and the New Wolsey Theatre. This gained me a Distinction level UAL (University of the Arts London) Level 3 Extended Diploma in Production Arts - and more importantly gave me lots of real world experience and knowledge in the technical theatre field. This then opened up a world of possibilities, leading to me getting a casual job, and then a full time contract in the technical department at the New Wolsey Theatre. Moving towards the current day, I still pop in for the occasional shift at the New Wolsey, as well as working at other local venues including Dance East - and design & work on lots of productions outside of those (over 40 a year!). I'm also a partner in a new family business, DIY Parties - and am chairman of a local performing arts charity, Limelight Performers - as well as working with Suffolk New College to teach technical elements to their performing arts students and oversee the production side of their shows! I also design a big fundraising light show on my house every December, raising a total of over £3500 for St. Elizabeth Hospice to date. JLA Sound and Light JLA Sound and Light was created in 2013, and allowed us to continue doing DJ Hamster's Children's Discos (which we still love doing to this day!) while also expanding into offering technical assistance and services for events. We've since worked with almost every local community theatre company, as well as in many schools and colleges (shows, concerts, assemblies, discos and even a CD recording), and have helped on many charity events as well as the ones we have organised ourselves. These include working with local charities such as EACH and St. Elizabeth Hospice, as well as raising money for many national charities. ​ We've worked in all sorts of venues, from the Dorfman at the National Theatre, to the Edinburgh Fringe, but also plenty of village halls, schools and local theatres including the New Wolsey Theatre & Spa Pavilion to name a few! ​ We've recently split off part of our business, to a new company - DIY Parties - who can now offer our popular DIY Disco package, as well as Silent Discos, Photobooths and lots more! ​ We're constantly expanding our hire stock, so that we can meet the ever growing requirements of the productions that we work on, and now have over 40 radio mics in stock, as well as 3 digital sound desks, lots of intelligent lighting, and crazy amounts of cable! ​ With a wide range of packages available to hire, and many services that we can offer - we're sure we'll be able to help you with whatever you need!
